Abstract: An universal algorithm for evaluating the describing function of piecewice linear nonlinearity is given in this paper. The algorithm presented here can be used to calculate the describing function for piecewice linear nonlinearity which consists of some segments whose slop is infinite. Thus the describing function for many typical nonlinearities can be evaluated using this algorithm. This is an extension of the result of D.P.Atherton.
