Abstract: First,this paper briefly describes the history of control theory with emphasis on key factorsstimulating its development.Second,the paper presents achievements and unsolved problems in main directions of control theory, Finally,the paper demonstrates how the 12th IFAC World Congress reflects people'sattitudes towards various aspects of control theory.
