5G LAN-Empowered Industrial Wireless Networks: Architecture, Key Technologies and Future Direction

  • 摘要: 工业互联网与5G的创新融合发展面临着工业运营技术与信息通信技术深度融合的底层难题,导致广域5G网络难以满足现场级工业控制要求。5G局域网(Local Area Network,LAN)打破标准5G的广域单播组网模式,创新实现了局域多播组网模式,成为工业无线网络的合适选项。为此,本文通过深入分析工业无线网络在异构任务高并发接入、确定性无线通信、多协议融合等方面的基本通信需求,并系统梳理5G LAN的技术特点及演进情况,提出了基于5G LAN的工业无线网络架构,支持工厂级、企业级组网。进一步,探讨了5G LAN工业无线网络涉及的虚拟动态组网、超可靠低时延通信、数据链路层和网络层混合转发、广播和组播通信等关键技术,并搭建实验平台开展了系统级的实验测试。最后,探讨了5G LAN工业无线网络在独立自主部署、边缘智能增强、虚拟化控制内生融合、网络安全等方面的挑战及未来研究方向。

     

    Abstract: The innovative integration of industrial internet and 5G is facing fundamental challenges of the deep convergence of operational technology (OT) and information and communication technology (ICT), resulting in the difficulty for wide-area 5G networks to meet field-level industrial control requirements. 5G LAN overcomes the wide-area unicast networking model of standard 5G, and innovatively implements the local multicast networking model, making it a suitable solution for industrial wireless networks. we first make an in-depth analysis of the fundamental communication requirements of industrial wireless networks, such as high-concurrency access of heterogeneous tasks, deterministic wireless communication, and multi-protocol convergence, and provide a systematic review of the characteristics and evolution of 5G LAN technology. Then, we propose a 5G LAN-based industrial wireless network architecture supporting factory-level and enterprise-level networking. Furthermore, we explore the key technologies for 5G LAN-based industrial wireless networks, including virtual dynamic networking, ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC), hybrid forwarding at the data link and network layers, and broadcast/multicast communication. An experimental platform is established to conduct system-level testing. Finally, we discuss challenges and future research directions for 5G LAN industrial wireless networks in areas such as standalone deployment, edge intelligence enhancement, endogenous convergence of virtualized control, and network security.
