Abstract: Taking for an example the textual research on the author of a classical Novel——‘A Dream of Red Mansions’(‘Hong Lou Meng’), this paper indicates the limitation of conventional textual Research Approaches to Chinese historical data, and reveals the promising prospect of computer use.
