Stability Conditions of Event-triggered Control Systems with Finite Feedback Bit Rates

  • We study the problem of quantized feedback control in networked control systems at finite feedback bit rates under event-triggered sampling strategies. In such systems, information is transmitted through a shared digital network. To improve the efficiency of network resource utilization, we adopt a model-based event-triggered control strategy whereby sampling is triggered when a certain error variable exceeds pre-defined thresholds. To handle the limited bandwidth of real networks, we implement a dynamic quantizer to quantize feedback signals with a finite number of bits. We propose a triggering strategy by which systems can maintain asymptotic stability. Moreover, we provide a lower bound on the number of quantization bits in these systems to achieve a positive minimum inter-sampling time. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed control strategy.
