THE OPTIMAL LOCATION OF VARIABLE MESSAGE SIGNS

This paper deals with the optimal location problem of VMS in the urban traffic network. Based on the experiential rules, the mathematical models for the optimal location of VMS are proposed. The genetic algorithm is adopted to solve the proposed integer programming models. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the application of the models and the algorithms.
