Abstract
The descriptor systems have been widely studied since it is a more natural description of dynamical systems than the conventional state-space systems. In this paper, a design method of model following for linear multi-input multi-output descriptor systems is proposed. The features of this method are: (1) both the physical structure of the system and the physical system variables properties can be preserved. (2) The boundedness of internal states is proved by means of the calculation of the characteristic polynomial of system matrices as well as using the relation of transmission poles and system poles and the relation of transmission zeroes and invariance zeroes. The effectiveness of this method has been illustrated by the example of an electrical circuit in which the description is a mixture of dynamic and static equations.
