DEADLOCK AVOIDANCE IN FLEXIBLE MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS WITH MULTIROUTING PART II: THE CONTROL POLICY

  • Using the CROPN developed in Part I, we discuss the problem of deadlock avoidance in FMS with multirouting for each part type in this paper. The necessary and sufficient conditions for deadlock-free operation and corresponding control policy are presented. This control policy allows as many parts as possible in the system, while the deadlock is totally avoided. This control policy can be embedded into a real-time scheduling system.
